Air conditioning sales, installation, service and repairs
If you want to create the perfect climate in a small space such as a bedroom, office or living room, a single split air conditioning system is the perfect way to distribute clean, comfortable air around your home or business.
What is a split system air conditioning system?
Split system air conditioners are designed to efficiently and quietly cool or heat single rooms, such as:
Individual rooms in the home
A split system consists of two units. They get their name due to half the system (condenser / outdoor unit) being located outside the house while the other half (fan coil / indoor unit) is installed inside. The indoor unit is fixed to the wall of the room to be cooled or heated, while the outdoor unit is usually installed directly behind, this is classed as a back to back installation. The two units are connected through ducting, refrigeration piping and an electrical connection.
How does a split system work?
Installing a split system doesn’t require ducting and the units are connected by small pipes and cables, so very little modification to your home or office is required.
When cooling, the warm air from inside the room is taken in by the fan coil and removed, resulting in cool air recirculating back into the house. While reverse cycle allows for the heat pump to run in reverse to provide heating during cold days.
The inside air conditioning unit includes outlet air grilles that deflect cooled air or swing from side to side for maximum comfort to all parts of the room. It is controlled by a handheld remote or it can be connected to a tablet or smart phone.
When the required temperature is reached, the compressor inverter technology signals a change of mode to dry, to help conserve energy that may be lost from constantly stopping and starting the unit. Most split system air conditioner systems come with delay and sleep functions to set preferences for turning the system on and off.
Multi-split or VRF air conditioning systems can heat or cool multiple rooms using only one outdoor unit connected to up to multiple indoor units. This reduces the outdoor space required. It’s a great solution if your home or business is restricted to space and a ducted system isn’t suitable, or you’re on a smaller budget.
Why are split systems so popular?
Wall mounted split air conditioning systems are the most commonly owned air conditioning systems in homes and small businesses, as they’re an affordable and energy efficient solution. Here are some reasons why they’re a popular choice:
